Aloha Pilipinas! Gone Back To Maui, Our Own Slice Of Paradise

And our own version of the "Corona Beer" commercial :-) ...without the beer

Is it me or is that canopy looking like a swaying hula grass skirt. I think I'm ready to go home to Maui no ka oi.

Parting Shots From Manila

Our final day in Manila and on our way to the shopping mall for our last shopping spree we saw a few of these political motorcades. It's election fever all over and candidates are getting ready for the May 7 Presidential and General elections.

And in someplace somewhere life goes on

Noteworthy Snapshots From My Vacation Gallery

I cannot believe they're still planting rice, by hand, today

And they still wash clothes by the same Agno River that the old folks used to take us more than 50 years ago!

Remember Luneta Park? Behind Jose Rizal's monument was a huge grassy area where hundreds of couples (most of them maids on their only day off on Sundays) make out after sunset as the place got dark. We were told that it's still happening today

We're Back In Manila

We're back in Manila and guess what's waiting for us - Lechon, basket full of balut, and relatives that dropped by that we haven't seen for ages. How much more Filipino can it get.

And of course, we (specially my partner in this picture) aggressively attacked the balut and by the end of the day, we were again treated to another massage for $7 for 72 minutes :-) It's going to be tough to adjust to normal life when we go home to Maui next week

Island Hopping On Our Final Day In Cebu

As we woke up last Monday, our boat was already waiting for us at the beach, a few steps away. This picture was shot not far from my friend's home. This boat accomodates about 12 people but we have it reserved for just the four of us. Cost = $30 each. Unreal!

Our destination is Pandanon Island, only about 45 minute boat ride, where we would just go out there and relax as the crew cooks our lunch in their customary island barbecue style. And it was good too

Arriving at the island

This is a beautiful relaxing oasis. You cannot tell me that you vacationed in the Philippines if you haven't gone to this place. I have yet to find a place like this Maui.

A Side Boat Trip To Bohol

A snap shot during our river cruise

Evelyn dancing the Tinikling

And the famous Tarshier monkey in Bohol

Living it up at Coral Point Beach Club in Mactan

Evelyn getting a beach-side massage. And it cost only $11 for a full hour

Do not try this at home! This must be the ultimate in massage therapy.

Followed by a relaxing swim at the infinity pool and the saltwater pool

Week 3 - In Cebu Philippines

Flew to Cebu in a resort called Coral Point Beach & Yatch Club. This is a 50 unit privately owned luxury condos in a gated oceanfront resort. Only 50 units but the place has 5 swimming pools and two lap pools or a total of seven. If you're not into pools, the ocean is only 10 ft. away and only waist deep in nice 85 degree water all day. We were graciously accommodated by Bing and his wife Mel from Vancouver who owns a retirement home in this resort.

Didn't waste any time trying out their saltwater swimming pool on our first day. Here's the best part. The condo owners do not reside in the Philippines and this time around there are only seven families in the area so today the facilities are pretty much all to ourselves

Our First Ever 50 year High School Reunion

Our class picture 50 years ago. Sadly, 25% of our classmates have passed away

Evelyn missing in above picture because the Photographer (me) was so busy with camera setup I forgot about the "queen"

My favorite transition picture. I remember these guys like yesterday 50 years ago.

Evelyn and I were classmates in Class of 60. I aimed for the fairest of them all competing with the rich kids, 50 years ago. Today she still is. I scored big! Bwahahahaha Click here for more pictures
