Happy Thanksgiving!

Only Jay is in Maui for Thanksgiving. This dinner was actually shot last night because he returned to Honolulu today. Dawn couldn't join us as she wanted to limit her traveling for now as a precaution on this early stage of her pregnancy.

Today, Don and Lynette are also on their way to Manila. They're going to spend about 10 days in Cebu to check out a Christian mission group which they will join next year for an extended period. I will likely join them as well.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Our prayers are answered! We’re going to be grandparents in May 2009.

Here’s an ultra-sound scan of our future angel. Can you see the left arm and and a little “dickie” just above the hand? Me thinks this one will be a baby boy! Any bets? Jay advised that we should know in a few weeks so we can start shopping for the right stuff.

18 Years in Maui Today

18 years ago, November 10, 1990, I arrived in Maui to make way for the family to move here from Toronto with $800 cash in my pocket. I was completely a stranger in paradise - no relatives, friends, and not even a hotel reservation so I had to wait at the airport for my lost luggage to come in for more than 4 hours. Stayed at Banana Bungalow Hostel for two nights. The following day I spent $600 to buy this 1978 Subaru Brat which became our “family car” for the next two years. We put in over 70,000 miles on it and eventually gave it away.

This car had a lot of memories of our early beginnings in Maui.

Obama has an iPhone?????................Nah

What does Obama and the iPhone have in common? They're both over-hyped but they both deliver, sorta...

Well if the President-elect has an iPhone the VP of "Owaka Resort" has one too!

Pickled Santol!

When was the last time you ate santol? Someone at the hospital (Evelyn's workplace) has a santol tree and was selling these pickled santol. Wow the taste just brings back memories of our Tayug days. That's a long time ago. No, we chickened out from swallowing those awesome seeds though. We might be too old or too domesticated for such indulgence already.

Eat your heart out!
EDIT: In case you're getting turned on (or turned off), no these are not camel's testicles :-o
